Job Description Approx. 30-35 hours per week Position is Hourly/Part-Time/At-Will (Must be available evening and weekend hours) This recruitment is open until the needs of the department are met

and may close without prior notice. Under general supervision, assists in the planning, development, implementation, and supervision of a wide variety of Community Services programs, services and activities. Provides support to the Community Services Department in a variety of youth, adult, and senior recreation programs and activities.

Typical Duties Performed

Provides supervision of Community Services facilities when full-time staff are not available. Supervises City programs, services, and activities. Supervises, recruits, evaluates, schedules, and trains staff, and volunteers. Plans, develops, conducts, supervises and manages a wide variety of recreation activities for children, adults and seniors. Assists with supervising facility rentals and maintaining reservation schedules. Enrolls participants in various recreation programs. Prepares press releases, reports, evaluations, parent letters, agendas, flyers, brochures, schedules, memorandums, and other written communication. Makes recommendations regarding the acquisition of equipment and supplies. Assists with budget preparation and monitoring. Plans and coordinates citywide special events. Assists with developing and conducting staff meetings and trainings. Supervises cash handling and daily receipts. Organizes and maintains accurate records. Adheres to City and departmental policies and procedures. Performs related duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Must possess excellent customer service skills. Knowledge of:

The fundamentals, rules and regulations of various youth, adult, and senior recreation programs and activities; policies, procedures, and regulations governing the conduct and safety of persons using equipment and facilities. Methods, practices, and equipment used in maintaining an effective recreational program; CPR, AED and First Aid safety practices; Recreation Activity Management Software; graphics programs; English grammar, punctuation, spelling and composition Demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, community groups, staff, and other agencies. Prepare and deliver oral and written reports to supervisors, staff and groups of individuals. Exercise good judgment, courtesy, and tact with staff and the public. Delegate and assign tasks to employees and volunteers. Utilize Windows based software. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and available to work nights, weekends and holidays. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Experience:

Two years of related recreation experience, including one year of employee supervisory experience is required. Experience with youth, adult, and senior recreation programs is preferred.

Education:

Graduation from high school or equivalent is required. Completed college level coursework is required, preferably in Recreation, Physical Education or related field.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:

Possession of a valid California Driver License is required.

Possession of CPR, AED, and First Aid certificates are required within the first month of employment. Certification will be provided by the City.

Candidates will be required to pass a City administered pre-employment requirements to include live scan fingerprinting and a medical examination as part of the Selection Process. Candidates who do not pass any portion of the above processes will be disqualified and removed from proceeding in the selection process

One year of City service is required to advance to the next pay step in the salary range.
