Litigation Paralegal – Washington, D.C.

A boutique litigation law firm based in Washington, D.C., is seeking an experienced and proactive Litigation Paralegal to join its dynamic team. In this position, you will collaborate closely with accomplished Partners and Associates in a collaborative, team-driven setting, supporting a wide range of complex and substantive litigation matters. Oversee all phases of complex litigation, managing cases from inception through resolution. Support attorneys in preparing for depositions and trials by proactively handling logistics, filings, and deadlines. Proofread, edit, and cite‑check legal briefs using The Bluebook and Best Authority, ensuring accuracy and compliance. File legal documents electronically using ECF and similar court systems. Utilize advanced legal software to facilitate discovery, manage case documents, and prepare for trial. Advise attorneys and legal assistants on best practices and procedural efficiencies. Conduct comprehensive legal research, synthesize findings, and collaborate with case teams to develop strategies. Maintain exceptional organizational skills, including effective file and document management using document management systems. Supervise and coordinate all aspects of project management, including organizing, preparing, indexing, copying, and distributing materials to legal teams. This includes establishing and maintaining pleadings files, hearing and trial notebooks, deposition and expert witness notebooks, and related exhibits. You have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate preferred, or equivalent work experience in a field that develops the skills required for the functions and responsibilities of the position. At least 3-5 years of prior law firm experience supporting litigation attorneys. You know and understand how critical quality work is to a legal case. You are available for overtime and travel when needed. You are comfortable working with Adobe Acrobat to extract, edit, prepare forms, redact, bates number, header, etc. Pacer/Westlaw – document research and management. Can create a Table of Contents/Authorities – finalization of word documents for filing via ECF, etc. Have used Clio or similar legal technology for case management and timekeeping.
