Sr. Wi-Fi Test Automation Engineer
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Pay range: $50.00/hr - $55.00/hr
Role: Sr. Wi-Fi Test Automation Engineer
Qualifications
Strong understanding of 802.11 Wi-Fi standards, RF fundamentals, and wireless security protocols.
Experience working with Wi-Fi routers, extenders, and mesh networking solutions.
Experience working with roaming protocols like 802.11 KVR and AP/Extender configuration.
Hands‑on experience with test automation using Python, shell scripting, or similar tools, including developing reusable test frameworks and automating test execution.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and test management tools is a plus.
Proficiency in network debugging, packet analysis, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
Experience with industry‑standard Wi‑Fi test tools like VeriWave, IXIA Chariot, Alethea, Spirent and packet debuggers like Wireshark and OmniPeek.
Experience in developing test strategies and executing them with automation or manual testing.
Basic knowledge of networking protocols like TCP/IP, DHCP, RADIUS, etc.
Responsibilities
Design, develop and execute test plans for Wi‑Fi routers, extenders, and mesh networking solutions.
Perform functional, performance and stress testing to evaluate Wi‑Fi range, throughput, and reliability.
Perform Wi‑Fi roaming performance using 802.11k and 802.11v to ensure seamless handoff between devices.
Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Python, shell scripting, or similar tools.
Collaborate with development and QA teams to identify automation opportunities and improve test coverage.
Troubleshoot and optimize existing automation frameworks and test suites for better reliability and efficiency.
Test and analyze the Wi‑Fi extenders for coverage optimization, latency and backhaul performance.
Utilize Wi‑Fi testing tools (Wireshark, iperf, etc.) to capture and analyze network performance.
Stay updated with Wi‑Fi 6/6E/7 advancements and integrate best practices into test strategies.
