Trauma Data I Specialist

Overview UC Health is hiring a Trauma Data I Specialist to complete registry tasks including data collection, entry, coding, analysis, and validation to support research, performance improvement, and outcome measurement.
Responsibilities
Obtain, abstract, and enter patient‑related information into databases accurately and timely.
Coordinate data collection from EPIC, EMS run reports, coroner, and other sources.
Assign ICD‑10 codes for diagnoses and procedures and AIS codes for injuries following AAAM rules.
Perform monthly and ad‑hoc data validation, maintain accuracy rate ≥90%.
Analyze and report on trauma admission, reimbursement codes, and quality metrics for UC Health and external registries (ACS, Ohio Trauma, Tri‑State).
Participate in clinical research data collection and ongoing education (8 hrs/yr per ACS).
Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality of patient information.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in Healthcare Information, Health Data Management, or related field.
1–2 years of trauma registry experience (preferred 3–5 years).
Successful completion of AIS coding course (AAAM) and trauma registrar course within 12 months of hire.
Certification preferred: CSTR, CAISS, CIC, CCA, CCS, RHIT, RHIA.
Strong data quality focus and ability to work cross‑functional with EPIC, EMS, and quality committees.
