Key Responsibilities

Permit Management & Filing: Prepare, submit, and track all fire protection permit applications.

Maintain organized records of submittals, approvals, and revisions.

Ensure documentation meets all applicable fire codes and standards.

Expediting & Coordination: Follow up with AHJs to accelerate review and approval timelines.

Coordinate with internal teams to gather required documentation and respond to AHJ comments.

Resolve permitting delays and elevate issues when necessary.

Violation Remedy & Compliance: Draft and submit violation remedy letters and compliance documentation to AHJs.

Collaborate with field and design teams to address cited issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Maintain a log of violations, resolutions, and correspondence for audit and reporting.

Code Interpretation & Regulatory Support: Interpret NFPA codes and local fire safety regulations for fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and special hazard systems.

Advise internal teams on jurisdictional requirements and compliance strategies.

Monitor changes in fire protection regulations and update internal processes accordingly.

Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for AHJs regarding fire protection permits and compliance.

Communicate status updates to project managers and team leaders.

Build and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in permitting, compliance, or regulatory coordination within the construction or trades.

Strong knowledge of permitting processes, codes, and local fire safety regulations.

Experience working with AHJs across multiple jurisdictions (a plus).

Excellent writing skills for formal correspondence and compliance documentation.

Prior experience with fire alarm, sprinkler, suppression, and special hazard systems (preferred).

Familiarity with construction documentation and plan review processes (preferred).
