Job Summary : The Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine Division of Laboratory Animal Health seeks a veterinarian to provide clinical medical care for traditional laboratory animal species used in research and teaching programs at Auburn University. The veterinarian will provide clinical care, support preventative health programs, ensure compliance with university and regulatory animal care and use requirements, support departmental veterinary staff, provide emergency care, and contribute to all aspects of the laboratory animal care and use program.

Temporary Employment Services (TES)
is an in‑house support center that provides qualified and temporary employees for various roles across the campus, including assistance with staff absences, peak workloads, special projects, seasonal work, and emergencies. TES is open to non‑student employees only.
Essential Functions :
Monitor and oversee veterinary care, providing medical care for sick or injured animals.
Conduct facility rounds in research animal housing to inspect and ensure animal health and welfare.
Provide on‑call weekend and holiday care and on‑site veterinary oversight on a rotational basis.
Collaborate with the Attending Veterinarian, veterinary staff, and research teams regarding animal welfare and research activities.

Minimum Qualifications :
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)‑accredited college or equivalent as defined by the AVMA Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates.
Eligibility for veterinary licensure in the State of Alabama.
Desired Qualifications :
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to translate information into easily understood terms and provide rationales for action.
Understanding of health monitoring and disease control.
Understanding of best practices for handling sensitive and confidential information.
Salary : $52.00 – $56.00 per hour.
Work Hours : 7:45 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Typical business hours, with rotational weekend/holiday on‑call coverage.
