Office of Teaching & Learning - Educator Talent and Workforce Development
The Education Consultant 1,2 (EC 1,2) position is housed within the Office of Teaching and Learning, Office of Certification, and serves as a certification specialist for all matters related to teacher certification. The EC 1,2 ensures compliance with state policies and regulations governing certification programs, processes certification applications, responds to daily inquiries related to educator certification, and interprets certification policies for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
Five years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.
Six years of full‑time work experience plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.
A bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.
An advanced degree plus one year of experience in education, teaching, or administrative services.

Job Duties
Reviews and processes teacher and administrator certification requests for state and local educators via the Louisiana Educator Portal.
Reviews and addresses daily certification inquiries, providing accurate information and guidance on certification policies and requirements.
Assist in the development and implementation of certification guidelines impacting Louisiana teachers and leaders.
Ensures proper interpretation and consistent application of certification policies across internal and external audiences.
Position‑Specific Details Appointment Type:
Probational, Promotional, or Job Appointment. The person hired for this position is expected to regularly report to the Baton Rouge office. Current permanent classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if selected.
Career Progression:
This position participates in a Career Progression Group. Vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as an Education Consultant 1 or 2, depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant.
Work Schedule:
Work hours are Monday – Friday. Work hours will be determined.
Compensation:
The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

The Education Consultant series have a special entrance rate that is above the minimum hire rate for these positions. The maximum amounts listed are the maximum salary amounts a person can make over their career and are not the maximum amount we are allowed to pay a new hire.
