Admission Counselor / Senior Admission Counselor

Miami University’s Office of Admission seeks an energetic, creative, and collaborative individual to serve as an admission counselor for first‑year recruitment. The selected candidate will play an integral role in meeting enrollment goals and manage a first‑year recruitment territory that includes 6–8 weeks of travel, application review, and relationship management. Location

Miami University, Hamilton campus. This position is approved for remote work on a hybrid basis; remote work is a working arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason. Responsibilities

Knowledge of University & Brand Representation: Develop working knowledge of Miami University programs, opportunities, and policies; communicate the Miami brand and admission policies to prospective students, families, and key influencers; present to audiences ranging from 20 to over 300 participants (20%). Student‑Centered Support: Provide exceptional customer service and personalized guidance throughout the admission process; correspond via email, phone, and Zoom, provide presentations, and routinely fulfill counselor‑on‑duty responsibilities; build and maintain relationships with school counselors within the assigned territory (20%). Territory Management: Plan and conduct 8–12 weeks of recruitment travel; maintain counselor relations, follow up with students and families, monitor enrollment trends and adjust strategies to meet enrollment goals; use CRM, data, and best practices to inform decisions (20%). Application Review & Decision‑Making: Participate in electronic file review for undergraduate, domestic and international first‑year admission, Honors programs, and pre‑college programs; conduct holistic review and recommend decisions in accordance with Miami University’s admission policies (20%). Organize, coordinate, and manage on‑ and off‑campus recruitment events, high‑school counselor programs, and high‑ability programming (10%). Other duties as assigned (10%). Minimum Qualifications

Admission Counselor: Bachelor’s Degree by start date. Senior Admission Counselor: Bachelor’s Degree plus at least two years of recruitment cycle or admission experience, **or** Master’s Degree and one year of experience. Experience obtained during completion of a degree may be considered at half time (i.e., 2 years = 1 year). Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Must be able to work some evenings, perform overnight and some weekend travel, transport 30–40 lbs. of recruiting materials, and possess a valid driver’s license. Knowledge of and experience with computer systems and various software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Politically savvy and diplomatic; demonstrate a proven positive work ethic and attitude; possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, dynamic group presentation skills, and proven commitment and ability to work with diverse constituencies. Must be able to work independently and as a team member, handling multiple tasks simultaneously with high attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree. 1–2 years of experience in higher education, recruitment, marketing, or another related field. Experience with customer relations database (Slate). Experience working with school counselors, community‑based organizations, alumni volunteers. Event planning experience. Data analysis experience. Required Application Documents
