System Operations Engineer – Cloud Infra
Base Pay Range
$40.00/hr - $45.00/hr
Must Haves
5+ years of experience in enterprise Linux administration and virtualized environments
Advanced troubleshooting skills across VMware, OpenStack, and Kubernetes/OpenShift with scripting/automation capabilities (Python, Ansible)
Ability to troubleshoot infrastructure issues and respond to service requests
Familiarity with load balancers and security practices (firewalls a plus)
Job Description This role supports the Data Center Services, specifically focused on Run & Maintain operations. These openings are backfills resulting from organizational changes. Engineers will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting core infrastructure services in a Linux-heavy virtualized environment.
Key Responsibilities
Support day-to-day operations of Linux-based data center environments
Manage and maintain virtualized environments including VMware, OpenStack, Kubernetes & OpenShift
Provide support for load balancing services: current Avi Load Balancer; future migration to F5 Load Balancer
Work and resolve ~10 tickets per week, ranging from simple requests to multi-day efforts
Execute system patching, upgrades, and service creation
Collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and application teams to troubleshoot issues; participate in larger infrastructure initiatives that may fall outside the ticketing system
Contribute to after-hours maintenance windows as needed
Technical Environment
Operating Systems: Linux (primary), with strong administration experience required
Scripting/Automation: Ansible, Python (preferred), PowerShell (VMware only, minimal)
Ticketing System: JIRA (simple implementation—no advanced skills required)
