The Test Engineer is responsible for defining, implementing, and optimizing test, automation, and commissioning processes for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) within a New Product Introduction (NPI) and Contract Manufacturing (CM) environment. The role includes designing and automating test equipment and processes, specifying and validating test systems, supporting equipment installation and acceptance, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining comprehensive process documentation aligned with program and quality standards. The role requires close collaboration with cross‑functional engineering teams and periodic on‑site engagement at global contract manufacturing locations. Key Responsibilities

Defines manufacturing test processes and procedures to achieve product quality and functional requirements. Provides support for Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT). Develops manufacturing test plans in alignment with FAT and customer expectations. Defines and develops factory product commissioning strategy to enable full product validation prior to shipping. Contributes to PFMEA review and operational process risk assessments. Defines and implements automated test equipment strategies and follows automation projects through to completion. Oversees factory equipment install, debug, launch, and continuous improvement activities. Actively participates in the program core team to accomplish daily tasks and meet the project deliverables. Establishes equipment installation schedules and facilitates weekly/daily status reviews with vendors and contractors. Leads lessons learned and continuous improvement activities to improve quality and reduce cost associated with manufacturing test process. Stays current with the latest industry trends, developments and technologies in your field. Provides mentorship to less experienced test engineers. Qualifications

Hands‑on knowledge of test equipment and battery system manufacturing processes. Understanding and experience with data acquisition hardware (2+ Years Preferred). Test application and programming software experience (LabVIEW, TestRail, Others). Program execution experience. Automation equipment and programming experience. Experience leading a project and presenting status to various stakeholders. Experience troubleshooting equipment (problem solving, debugging). Strong analytical and practical problem‑solving skills based on data aggregation. Experience with DFMEA/PFMEA. Experience reading and analyzing electrical circuit schematics. Ability to work at odd hours to meet with global teams as needed. Expected travel (US and international): 50% with possibility of up to 90% during product launches. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (Controls experience preferred). 5+ years proven experience in battery system test engineering and automation. Strong understanding of automated test development. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in project management tools and software. Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., APQP, stage gates) and regulatory requirements. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Team player with ability to collaborate across departments and functions. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 1+ years leading or mentoring test engineers. Seniority level
