About the Position Cologix is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting organization. The position will report to the Sr. Operational Accounting Manager and will be focused on accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, sales and use tax, AP, PO coding, payroll and various general ledger activities including, but not limited to, prepaids, cash and intercompany.
What You Do Daily
Prepares general ledger transactions timely and accurately
Ensures monthly Rent and Utility bills are entered timely and accurately
Maintains utility expense trackers and analyzes data to calculate monthly utility accruals
Reviews and corrects purchase order coding
Prepares, files, and reconciles sales and use tax for multiple jurisdictions
Assists with bi-weekly payroll review, payroll accounting and compliance
Performs credit card reconciliations
Organizes and maintains sub-ledger transaction files
Performs variance analysis and market level reporting
Ensures a timely and accurate close process for areas of responsibility
Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Performs research, resolves issues, initiates corrective actions and adjustments
Helps in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and process improvements for areas of responsibility
Learns established processes and seeks continual process improvement while handling daily work
Qualifications
BS degree in Accounting is required
3 to 5+ years of related experience including accounting, payroll, sales tax and auditing skills, demonstrating increasing responsibility
Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls and quality control concepts
Strong to expert Excel skills and aptitude for technology
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, displaying the ability to connect and build relationships with other departments, vendors and customers
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple and competing priorities while meeting established deadlines
Process improvement mindset
Adaptability, personal accountability, high degree of ownership and a strong drive to succeed
Responsive and proactive with positive customer service skills
Positive attitude with a desire to learn and a want to understand responsibilities and improve them
Experience with NetSuite preferred, Coupa and Ceridian Dayforce is a plus
Data Center knowledge and experience is a plus
