Role description:

Serve as Waste and QA/QC Manager, leading all aspects of waste management and quality assurance/quality control for nuclear, hazardous, and industrial waste projects. Provide strategic and technical guidance to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across all project phases.

Role Accountabilities

Lead all aspects of on‑site waste management, including characterization, packaging, transportation, and disposal of nuclear, hazardous, and industrial waste streams.

Ensure compliance with site‑specific, federal, and international regulations and Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC).

Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 9001 and NQA‑1 compliant Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs.

Oversee technical documentation, including QA/QC records, inspection reports, and regulatory submittals.

Utilize statistical sampling and analysis tools to support accurate waste characterization and process improvements. Conduct audits, inspections, and readiness assessments to uphold project and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with engineering, safety, and procurement teams to ensure integrated project delivery and quality outcomes.

Mentor and lead multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement. Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies to optimize operations and reduce cycle times.

Support project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning to meet decommissioning or remediation objectives.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.

Minimum 20 years of experience in waste management and QA/QC roles.

Preferred

Experience with nuclear or hazardous waste projects.

Certifications such as ISO 9001 Lead Auditor, Six Sigma, or equivalent.

Salary Salary range for this position is $142,416 - $242,107. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
