Our Controls SCADA Developer role focuses on designing, developing, and implementing shared services to support other Controls engineering teams across diverse industries, including manufacturing, supply chain logistics, and engineering. The developer collaborates closely with the team leader and peers to ensure that all products and services meet or exceed customer expectations.
Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Leads individual and small team projects on SCADA design and development with minimal supervision
Designs and implements new SCADA modules with minimal supervision
Leverages programming expertise to develop efficiency tools that optimize daily engineering tasks
Coordinates with engineers across disciplines to facilitate effective system integration and testing
Maintains open and transparent communication with peers, stakeholders, and team leadership to support project success
Participates actively and on time in scheduled meetings, including Controls staff meetings
Drives customer success by delivering projects that exceed expectations and align with market demand
Commits to completing tasks within budgeted project hours
Provides cross‑functional support to project teams, contributing beyond the scope of Controls when needed
Develops innovative Controls techniques, products, or services, maintaining a competitive edge in the industry
Fosters a collaborative team environment, actively contributing to office culture and success
Completes administrative tasks promptly, including timesheets and expense reports
Represents Bastian professionally, promoting the company in relevant forums
Cultivates long‑term customer relationships, driving repeat business and trust
Adapts to evolving responsibilities, taking on additional duties as needed
Travel Requirements
Overnight travel required up to 25%
Required Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in HMI/SCADA applications specifically in Ignition
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite
Strong team collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to meet urgent deadlines effectively
Highly motivated and results‑driven
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Will need to be able to work in the US long term without future sponsorship
Preference is being located in or near Indianapolis, IN, St Louis, MO or Toronto, ON
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in PLC programming
Proficiency in emulation software/Ignition preferred
Proficiency in database applications
Capable of interpreting field device layouts (P&ID, machine schematics, etc.)
Proven ability to prioritize and execute tasks efficiently in a fast‑moving environment
