Overview The Ranch Camp provides a summer camp experience within the Denver JCC. As a staff member you will help create a joyful and safe environment where campers thrive. Your experience is as important to the team as the campers’ experience.
Supervisory Staff Responsibilities
Care for campers by prioritizing their physical, social, emotional health, safety, and well‑being.
Collaborate with co‑staff to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
Create a welcoming community for both staff and campers.
Promote inclusion and ensure every camper feels included.
Engage in camp life: ride horses, swim, play games, sing songs, roast s’mores, and participate in all camper activities.
Maintain awareness of camper locations and activities constantly.
Apply staff orientation tools for positive behavior management, safety policies, emergency procedures, and camp rules.
Remain flexible and adaptable to rapid changes at camp.
Assume additional duties as assigned, such as creating themed experiences or special events.
Traditional Program Manager Responsibilities
Supervise instructors in music, dance, theatre, arts and crafts, tie‑dy, STEM, Judaics, Israeli culture, farming and gardening programs.
Document programming for future use by other staff.
Develop and run programs that all campers can participate in during off‑time.
Manage physical spaces for Traditional Programs (art room, theatre space, farm, garden, tie‑dy area), ensuring appropriate access limits.
Maintain cleanliness, inventory, and daily set‑up/break‑down of program spaces.
Ensure proper safety equipment is used and maintained; report damaged items to the director team.
Schedule and apply curriculum for Traditional Program activities; manage staffing for all scheduled activities.
Assist instructors with facilitation; be ready to join arts & crafts, garden, or music sessions.
Physical Demands and Working Environment Physical Demands:
Operate with adequate auditory and visual functioning; walk over two miles daily, use stairs and uneven terrain, stand, sit, run, swim, and lift or block campers when necessary.
Work Environment:
Indoor, often loud spaces and extended outdoor work under the sun; fast‑paced and sometimes stressful environment while maintaining high standards of care.
Qualifications Basic Qualifications
Valid driver’s license with ability to transport campers using company vehicles.
One year of experience in a childcare setting or strong interest in professional childcare.
More than two years of work in similar program areas.
Compliance with background screening, reference and documentation requirements and CDHS law.
High‑energy, enthusiastic, creative, and open‑minded.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of camp experience.
Current CPR and First Aid certification.
Bachelor’s degree, degree in progress, or equivalent experience.
