as a Legal Administrative Professional I in the Victim Services Unit. This role serves as the first point of contact for visitors dealing with traumatic and complex matters, managing a high volume of phone calls and providing exceptional customer service.

Work Locations King County Courthouse, 516 3rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98104 (1 position) and Maleng Regional Justice Center, 401 4th Ave N, Kent, WA 98032 (1 position)

Work Schedule & Salary 40‑hour week, Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Hourly: $28.19 (step 1) – $35.73 (step 10)

Union Membership Represented by Teamsters Local No. 117.

Job Duties

Provide exceptional customer service to visitors and callers.

Direct calls to appropriate individuals/units or refer callers to external resources.

Maintain discretion, tact, and confidentiality with sensitive subjects.

Interact professionally with the public, law enforcement, defense attorneys, judges, court staff, and PAO colleagues.

Use the PAO case‑management system, Prosecution by Karpel (PbK), to look up information and upload documents.

Read criminal cases, annotate victim information, produce and distribute victim notification packets and letters.

Monitor and address shared queues in PbK.

Process Special Sexual Offender Sentencing Alternative (SSOSA) reports and Special Assault Unit (SAU) declines.

Complete Domestic Violence (DV) InfoNet reporting.

Provide administrative duties for U‑VISA processing.

Maintain and update the Victim Assistance Unit (VAU) reception manual.

Help train new VAU personnel.

Manage parking validations for victims and witnesses.

Electronically file documents through the Superior Court Clerk’s Office online portal.

Assist supervisors, paralegals, and restitution investigators with PbK entry and other duties.

Monitor, distribute, and scan large volumes of mail, emails, and faxes.

Order and maintain office supplies.

Manage office equipment (computer, fax, copy, printer) including toner recycling.

Assist with special projects as they arise.

Actively participate in PAO equity work, attend trainings, support Race, Equity, and Social Justice principles.

Additional responsibilities may be incorporated or modified as business needs evolve.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of general office principles and procedures, especially in the criminal justice system.

Ability to manage tasks from beginning to end and obtain necessary information.

Proficiency with computers and database programs such as PbK, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook.

Strong organizational skills to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks amid frequent interruptions.

Customer‑service skills in person and via phone (discretion, patience, etiquette, professionalism).

Ability to assist individuals in crisis.

Experience working independently or as part of a team.

Exert initiative and follow through with assignments.

Reliable and timely attendance.

Follow written and verbal directions and complete tasks on schedule.

Learn from directions, observations, and mistakes; apply procedures with good judgment.

Meet deadlines with attention to detail and handle unscheduled responsibilities.

Accept supervision, coaching, and feedback.

Understand the criminal justice system and general office principles.

Communicate effectively and follow written and verbal directions.

Commitment to equity and social‑justice work, including ongoing cultural humility.

Exercise tact, courtesy, and judgment with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Knowledge of the PAO is a plus.

Special Requirements

Successful criminal background check, reference check, and fingerprinting.
