Position Summary The Senior Accountant - Construction is responsible for managing the accounting and financial reporting activities for multiple construction and real‑estate projects. This role plays a key part in preparing and reviewing CAM reconciliations, job cost reports, and general ledger activity. The Senior Accountant ensures accuracy and compliance with GAAP, company policies, and project agreements while supporting operational teams with financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review CAM reconciliations for multiple commercial and construction projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Analyze tenant leases and operating expense clauses to determine recoverable expenses and allocate costs appropriately.
Record, reconcile, and maintain job cost accounts, WIP (Work‑in‑Progress) schedules, and project billing.
Manage monthly and quarterly general ledger reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting journal entries.
Oversee AP/AR related to construction projects, including subcontractor invoices, retention payments, and progress billings.
Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and project profitability reports.
Assist in budgeting and forecasting for construction and property management divisions.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and company internal controls.
Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and property managers to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
Lead or assist with year‑end audits and tax preparation by providing schedules and supporting documentation.
Continuously review and improve accounting processes related to construction and CAM reconciliation.
