POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide day-to-day intensive training for mammographers and students in both screening and diagnostic procedures. Scope of training will be all inclusive from education and proficiency with CR paperwork, anatomy and physiology of breast tissue and related structure, basic screening positioning all the way through invasive procedures that will allow our radiologists to evaluate and diagnose the physiological changes in breast patterns that may or may not be breast cancer. Coverage of course specific material targeted to beginning technologists that will allow them to meet the criteria needed to sit for mammography certification exams. Will cover clinical mammography tech duties as needed as well.

Shift Details

M - F / 7:30a - 4:30p (hours can vary, dependent on location/training schedule)

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Training Mammography technologists and/or students in diagnostic mammography including preparing for their cases by gathering images, reports, paperwork, setting up room for the specific exam called for

Training new screening and/or diagnostic technologists in paperwork, positioning, radiation technique and anatomy

Maintaining training logs on mammography techs and/or students

Working with radiologists to maintain QA for screening exams and working with technologists that may need assistance in maintaining QA for screening exams

Working as a screening and/or diagnostic technologist as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Licensing/Certification:

Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology

ARRT/ CPR

Experience (years And Type)

3 years of diagnostic mammography and breast ultrasound experience

Stereotactic Biopsies and Diagnostic Training experience preferred

Knowledge And Skills

Computer literate

Ability to read and interpret medical reports, extract pertinent information from them and present that information in a concise and appropriate manner

Anatomic knowledge of breast tissue pattern and related structures as well as breast pathology and treatment of breast pathology

Knowledge of radiographic technique and positioning including required competency with stereotactic biopsy navigation

Knowledge of ultrasound principals, application and positioning

Excellent communication skills

Excellent customer service, both internal and external

Walking and standing for long periods of time, heavy lifting as needed

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Travel Required (% of time):

51-75%

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

Full day if walking and standing

Lift 25lbs.

Radiation, infectious disease, bloodborne pathogens, lifting, standing, floating coverage, overtime as needed, work outside of normal M-F business hours as needed
