Responsibilities As a Coffee Quality Technician II, you will be responsible for driving excellence in the day‑to‑day operations for the green coffee cupping room. You will lead the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of quality protocols, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and alignment with our global standards. This includes daily cupping and events, quality tests, data entry, and roasting support.

Daily cupping sessions : Oversee the daily cupping program, ensuring all sessions are strategically planned and executed to support quality evaluation and decision‑making. Lead the setup and sanitation protocols, ensuring all equipment and environments meet operational and sensory standards. Mentor and guide team members in cupping preparation and evaluation techniques to build quality expertise across the team.

Sample Management : Direct the intake and prioritization of all samples, ensuring timely processing and cupping aligned with quality benchmarks. Establish and refine protocols for sample handling and evaluation consistency. Lead the sample retention program.

Physical testing : Oversee and execute physical testing protocols including but not limited to green grade, bean size, roasted color, and moisture per the standard operating procedures. Record measurements in relevant data systems.

Quality programs : Champion the execution and evolution of Green Coffee Quality programs, ensuring alignment with global standards and strategic objectives. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure program outcomes support broader supply chain and sourcing goals. Identify and drive improvements in workflows, tools, and documentation to enhance efficiency and data integrity.

Database : Ensure timely and accurate data entry across all relevant systems (e.g., Oracle, Smartsheet, Excel), and lead efforts to improve data quality and reporting capabilities.

Qualifications

Skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams.

Strong attention to detail.

Ability to balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively.

Good communication skills.

Experience gathering, recording and reporting on operational and quality metrics, through manual or automated systems.

Effective collaborator with cross‑functional teams to achieve team’s goals.

Coffee experience: 2 years.

Ability to develop sensory skills including cupping.

Passionate about coffee quality and sensory evaluation.

Ability to handle tasks that involve physical work such as standing and walking.

One year experience in food science, or other applicable fields.

If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
