Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist Location:

Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid – 2 to 3 days onsite per week)

Schedule:

Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Pay Range:

Up to $74/hour

Duration:

12‑week contract (potential to extend or convert)

About the Role We’re seeking an experienced LOA Specialist to support a large, fast‑paced healthcare organization in Los Angeles. This position plays a critical role in managing employee leaves of absence and accommodations in compliance with state and federal regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and internal policies. The ideal candidate will bring hands‑on experience administering complex leave cases and will serve as a trusted resource to employees, managers, and HR partners.

Key Responsibilities

Administer employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, Workers’ Compensation, and personal leaves.

Partner with third‑party administrators and internal HR teams to ensure timely processing, communication, and documentation of leave cases.

Advise employees and managers on leave eligibility, rights, obligations, and return‑to‑work processes.

Maintain accurate leave records and documentation in HRIS or case management systems.

Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Employee Relations, and Legal to ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.

Track and monitor leave timelines, extensions, and follow‑up requirements to ensure compliance and minimize business disruption.

Assist in the development and communication of leave policies, procedures, and training materials.

Provide guidance to leadership on complex leave situations involving overlapping regulations (FMLA, ADA, Workers’ Comp, etc.).

Support accommodation requests, interactive process meetings, and coordination of modified duty assignments as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Minimum 3–5 years of hands‑on experience administering employee leaves of absence in a large or complex organization.

In‑depth knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL, and related federal and state leave laws.

Experience working in healthcare, higher education, or other highly regulated environments preferred.

Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Proficiency in HRIS and case management systems (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, Kronos, or similar).

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Comfortable navigating sensitive employee situations with empathy and clarity.

Skilled in collaboration across HR functions, including Benefits, Employee Relations, and Legal.
