Sales Agronomist III Your Tasks And Responsibilities
Lead the development of a comprehensive Bayer portfolio business plan with Field Sales Representatives (FSRs) for assigned geography, identifying 100 growers with high growth opportunity (lower Bayer share of farm) to prioritize work with Field Sales Representatives, Technical Agronomists and SeedPros to build a comprehensive Bayer business plan and drive market share growth of Bayer products with 100 identified growers with low or no Bayer share.
Build relationships with key growers by providing value added support including agronomic insights, and product selection and placement recommendations.
Responsible for the successful delivery of the squad goals through leading the grower demand generation plan for the squad, and support of others’ role responsibilities.
Provide whole-farm agronomic advice through education, product selection and placement, keeping informed of agricultural research.
Drive trials related to Bayer Portfolio with targeted growers.
Provide additional support at key seasonal milestones such as crop planning, responding to in‑season product needs, scouting fields, and monitoring harvest results.
Lead and collaborate with FSRs, TAs and Seed Pros on regular business planning, understanding and influencing growers’ business objectives including KPIs and any other relevant customer targets / measures.
Support key grower needs in season including performance issue resolution (PPIs and Replants).
Think strategically and make recommendations to leadership on innovative ways to further enhance business results.
Connect internally with company peers on programs, situations and issues to gain alignment and support to reach resolution.
Understand and influence growers’ business objectives including KPIs and any other relevant customer targets / measures.
Continually monitor grower account inventory progress, track planned activities and uncover any new issues or opportunities throughout the year.
Manage an annual SG&A budget and all program expenditures.
Travel approximately 60% with significant (daily) face‑to‑face customer interaction.
The Sales Agronomist (SA) drives growth by building strong relationships with growers and expanding market share.
Focused on engaging no‑share or lower‑share growers, the SA identifies opportunities to introduce Bayer’s Seed, Crop Protection, and digital solutions to meet their grower needs. By providing tailored recommendations and year‑round support, SAs influence decisions, drive product adoption, and ensure seamless execution from planning to harvest, reinforcing Bayer’s value as a trusted partner.
Who You Are Required Qualifications
Agility in communication approach to effectively interact with organizations or individuals, while balancing and building the dynamics of each relationship (customer‑first focus).
Ability to speak to company practices as it relates to current and future products as well as corporate initiatives ongoing.
Demonstrate strategic thinking capability in prior experience (using business insights to project decisions).
Digital fluency with latest industry tools and a desire to make decisions using data to grow the business.
Strong analytical, influence and innovative sales and negotiation skills (documented ability to drive results).
Excellent facilitation, presentation, written communication, as well as conflict management skills.
Ability to quickly start and grow strategic relationships and influence customer behavior (internal and external).
Strong task management with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring effective support for a large portfolio of customers.
Exceptional networking and consultative sales skills to drive engagement with customers and build new relationships.
Ability to quickly learn and apply agronomic knowledge to effectively promote a diverse range of options that best fit the customer’s needs.
Valid driver’s license and eligibility to drive a company car or pooled vehicle (driving record must meet guidelines based on the company’s Risk Screening for Hiring Drivers and MVR will be reviewed as part of pre‑employment screening).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an agriculture‑related discipline, business or appropriate related field.
Minimum of 8 years of relevant agriculture experience in agronomy, technology, sales or marketing.
Experience with sales teams and teams working remotely.
Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $89,600.06 – $134,400.08. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
