Title:
Data Center Fiber Splicing Technician
Location:
Abilene, Texas
(additional onsite location: Dallas, TX)
Type:
Contract-to-Hire
Schedule: 3 weeks on / 1 week off
Work Hours: 12-hour shifts (7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM)
Compensation: Daily per Diem $150
Key Responsibilities
Perform mid-level fiber splicing for structured cabling systems in data centers, including aerial, underground, and in-building (ISP) environments.
Interpret construction prints, splice matrices, and network diagrams to meet customer and operational specifications.
Execute mid-sheath cable entries, single and ribbon splices, and manage high-count fiber cables with precision.
Conduct OTDR and power meter testing to validate fiber integrity and troubleshoot live network issues.
Install and configure splice enclosures; perform hot cuts and relocations with minimal disruption to active systems.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless integration and accurate documentation.
Respond promptly to emergency outages and critical incidents to maintain uptime and service continuity.
Adhere strictly to data center safety protocols, cleanliness standards, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
1–3+ years of fiber splicing experience, preferably in data center or high-availability environments.
Proficiency in fiber testing, troubleshooting, and documentation.
