Salary Range: $57,346.00 to $71,682.50. This is an exempt (salaried) position. Pay rates are based on education, skill, experience level and internal equity. Internal equity considerations include an assessment of the applicant’s salary history and qualifications in comparison to the market rate and requirements for the job.

Youth and Family Services Division (YFS) of the Department of Social Services (DSS) provides a variation of services to safeguard children by strengthening the protective capacities of families whose children’s health, safety and well-being are at risk. The mission of DSS is to strengthen families and communities through a safety-net of services, collaborations, and hope. Position Summary The Social Services Program Coordinator (Child Family Teams Facilitator) will coordinate and supervise the overall functions of a program within social services. This individual contributor position, under minimal supervision, is responsible for ensuring quality control and appropriate ness of the program, coordinating special projects, and preparing applicable reports.
This position may require afterhours (after 5pm) to meet the needs of the children and families of Mecklenburg County. The work location for this position will be 10101 David Taylor Dr, Charlotte, NC 28262. Work location may vary based on business needs.
Essential Functions
Primary functions consist of coordinating and facilitating team meetings and community partners and staff
Traveling to other counties, communities, or homes as needed
Coordinate and supervise program activities and assist in the development of program
Conduct staff meetings with personnel to discuss plans, programs, and issues; work closely with other supervisors and managers
Participate in staff conferences regarding programs.
Investigate and take action on requests, suggestions or complaints concerning services in the assigned area
Monitor current programs and assist with the development of new programs, complete monthly and quarterly program reports
Participate in staff conferences, workshops and other learning regarding assigned programs
May be required to staff shelters in the event of disaster
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of three years of social services or human services experience.
Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted: Yes
Licenses and Certifications
Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
Requires County Driving Privileges
Preferred Qualifications
Prior Child Welfare Services experience preferred
Master’s Degree preferred
Completion of Child Welfare of North Carolina Pre-Service Training strongly preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of customer service principles
Knowledge of general social work principles and available resources
Knowledge of social services procedures, practices and methods
Knowledge of case management methods and techniques
Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations
Skills: Possessing strong communication skills and managing multiple tasks concurrently
Abilities: Adaptability – maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements, or cultures
Abilities: Building partnerships – identifying opportunities and taking action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, departments, units or organizations to help achieve business goals
Abilities: Communication – clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information provided
Abilities: Decision Making – identifying and understanding issues, problems and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions; using effective approaches for choosing a course of action or developing appropriate solutions; taking action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences
Abilities: Information Monitoring – setting up ongoing procedures to collect and review information needed to manage an organization or ongoing activities within it
Computer Skills
Proficient in various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
