Network Engineer / Network Architect (Palo Alto, AWS, VPC, WAN) - Dallas TX - Hybrid work
The Network Engineer / Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performance network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. The role focuses on Palo Alto firewalls, AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Direct Connect), and WAN optimization, ensuring connectivity, performance, and security across global networks. This position reports to the Infrastructure Manager / Head of Network Architecture and is located in Hybrid / Dallas TX.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Architecture: Design and implement enterprise‑grade network solutions across data centers, cloud (AWS), and branch offices.
AWS Networking: Architect and maintain AWS networking components such as VPCs, subnets, route tables, Transit Gateway, VPNs, and Direct Connect.
Firewall & Security Management: Configure and manage Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Panorama, and security policies; implement Zero Trust principles.
WAN / SD‑WAN Management: Design and optimize WAN and SD‑WAN architectures for global connectivity, redundancy, and performance.
Network Automation & Monitoring: Utilize tools like Terraform, Ansible, or AWS CloudFormation for network automation and configuration management. Implement monitoring and alerting with CloudWatch, SolarWinds, Splunk, or equivalent.
Troubleshooting & Support: Analyze and resolve complex network performance, latency, and security issues across hybrid environments.
Documentation & Compliance: Maintain detailed network diagrams, documentation, and ensure compliance with security and operational standards (ISO, NIST, SOC2, etc.).
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Certifications (Preferred):
Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty
Cisco CCNP / CCIE or equivalent network certifications
Technical Expertise:
Strong hands‑on experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, GlobalProtect VPN
Deep understanding of AWS networking (VPC, TGW, VPN, DX, Route 53)
Proficient in LAN/WAN, BGP, OSPF, IPSec, NAT, and QoS
Experience with SD‑WAN technologies (Palo Alto Prisma SD‑WAN, Cisco, etc.)
Familiar with network automation (Terraform, Ansible) and scripting (Python, Bash)
Knowledge of cloud security best practices and network segmentation
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams
Strong sense of ownership and attention to detail
