OVERVIEW
Hunger Free Oklahoma is seeking a full‑time Strategic Advocacy Engagement Manager to lead strategic communications, support advocacy initiatives, and advance efforts to end hunger across the state. The role develops and executes communication strategies, manages digital content and engagement, coordinates media and public relations, and supports issue campaigns that raise awareness and drive policy change. The position will also facilitate collaboration among partner organizations, coalitions, and policymakers to strengthen statewide anti‑hunger efforts. WHO WE ARE
Hunger Free Oklahoma is a statewide nonprofit that leverages collaboration to solve hunger in Oklahoma by improving systems, policies, and practices, facilitating partnerships, and providing backbone support to existing organizations addressing hunger. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
The Strategic Advocacy Engagement Manager will be supervised by the Director of Policy and Government Relations and is responsible for the following: Policy & Advocacy Support
Monitor local, state, and federal policy developments related to hunger and poverty Support coalition‑building and activating efforts in collaboration with the policy team Understand food assistance operations and regulations Represent the organization at advocacy events and meetings Help prepare CEO and Policy Director for various meetings and events Communications & Content Creation
Assist in drafting policy briefs, fact sheets, and legislative updates, especially persuasive communications for policymakers Translate policy research into digestible information and develop blog posts, newsletters, press releases, op‑ed, and speeches Develop messaging that translates complex policy issues into accessible language for broad public engagement Collaborate with program staff to highlight impact stories and community voices and ensure that HFO program work is represented in policy interactions Project Management
Organize meetings with policy makers and grassroots organizations Assist in coalition and stakeholder relationship building Organize, supervise, and motivate volunteer advocates to participate in advocacy visits WHO YOU ARE
To qualify for this job, you will have: 8 or more years of relevant experience; OR 8 years in a combination of post‑secondary education or training and relevant work experience Exceptional writing and editing skills Strong understanding of communications strategy and digital tools Interest in public policy, advocacy, and anti‑hunger work Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment Flexible, quick learner, highly adaptable Bachelor’s degree in communications, public policy, journalism, or related field and 4 years of experience (preferred) Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, Quorum, LegisOK, or similar tools (preferred) Experience with media relations or public speaking (preferred) Knowledge of food systems, Oklahoma ’s political landscape, and hunger‑related issues (preferred) Experience running issue campaigns, coalition development, or facilitation (preferred) Background working in an association (preferred) KEYS TO SUCCESS

This position is full‑time and based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It requires the ability to perform medium physical effort consisting of occasionally handling, lifting, or moving objects 20–30 pounds and to sit or stand to complete office‑oriented work an average of 8 hours a day. BENEFITS

HYBRID WORK SCHEDULE
Hunger Free Oklahoma offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing up to 3 days a week for remote work for much of the year. However, due to the intensive nature of benefit administration, there will be designated weeks during the summer when full‑time, in‑office attendance is required.
