Under the general direction of the Translation Services manager, the English‑Spanish Translator translates, edits, and proofreads printed, displayed, and audiovisual communications from English to Spanish and Spanish to English, using translation software such as Déjà Vu. The role involves building glossaries, ensuring accuracy, and maintaining a predictable work schedule, including flexible night and weekend work when required. Essential Job Functions
Translates, edits, and proofreads printed, displayed, and audiovisual communications from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. (50%) Uses Déjà Vu or similar database‑supported translation software to process translations, add terminology to existing glossaries, and build the unit’s specialized databases. (30%) Performs research, consultation, editing and proofing for accuracy, consistency, and to fit the intended audience. (10%) Communicates with clients to understand program‑specific terminology to ensure accurate translations. (5%) Maintains a predictable work schedule and works a flexible schedule that includes night and weekend work when required. Works under limited supervision with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. (5%) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Déjà Vu or similar database‑supported translation software. Skill in performing research, consultation, editing and proofing for accuracy, consistency, and to fit the intended audience. Ability to translate, edit, and proofread printed, displayed, and audiovisual communications from English to Spanish and Spanish to English. Ability to communicate with clients to understand program‑specific terminology to ensure accurate translations. Ability to maintain a predictable work schedule, and when required with little notice, work a flexible schedule that includes night and weekend work. Ability to work in a team environment under limited supervision with latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Initial Screening Criteria
Graduation from an accredited four‑year college with a degree in Spanish, Translation, Localization or related field. (Required) Minimum three years paid experience as a full‑time translator or four years as a part‑time or freelance translator. (Preferred) Experience using computer‑assisted translation tools, such as Déjà Vu, Trados, memoQ, or similar software. (Preferred) Benefits
