Purpose of the Role The purpose of this role is to drive the growth and sustainability of McGill Environmental Systems' compost product sales and feedstock intake in the Charleston, SC market. By identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and promoting McGill's mission of transforming waste and rebuilding soils, the Sales Representative plays a critical part in expanding the company's impact on environmental stewardship and market leadership.

Position Summary The Sales Representative – Intake and Compost is responsible for executing business development strategies to grow compost product sales and secure feedstock for production in the Charleston, SC area. This role involves prospecting new clients, managing and optimizing existing customer portfolios, and collaborating with the broader McGill Sales Team to achieve sales targets. The position requires a proactive, results-driven approach, technical proficiency, and a commitment to advancing McGill's mission through innovative sales and customer engagement practices.
Key Responsibilities
Executing a Business Development Plan to ensure long-term growth of compost product sales and feedstock intake.
Delivering and exceeding sales metric targets.
Prospecting for and acquiring new customers across customer segments including waste management firms, municipalities, horticultural partners, turf specialists, engineering firms, and commercial clients.
Supporting and optimizing the customer portfolio of our facilities located in the Charleston, SC area.
Influencing products, pricing, tipping/waste fees, and sales/marketing support.
Integrating into the larger McGill Sales Team through sales strategy, training, and reporting/analysis.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent of education, training, and experience.
5+ years of Business Development and Sales background.
A proven sales professional with a demonstrated record of success in defining and implementing sales strategies, resulting in revenue and market share growth.
Possessing cultural attributes including highly driven/motivated, self-starting, plan and execute mindset, decision-maker, and team/collaboration orientation.
Horticultural industry experience is ideal although not required.
Technical proficiency to include CRM software/tools, digital analysis tools such as Tableau, Microsoft Office suite, and virtual work capability.
Reliable transportation (local travel up to 30%) and valid driver's license.
Success Profile
Consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets for compost products and feedstock intake.
Demonstrating a deep understanding of customer needs across diverse segments.
Building and maintaining strong, trust-based relationships with clients, resulting in high customer satisfaction and retention.
Effectively leveraging CRM and digital analysis tools to track sales performance, identify opportunities, and inform strategy.
Collaborating seamlessly with the McGill Sales Team, contributing to shared goals and continuous improvement.
Adapting quickly to changing market conditions and company growth, embracing new challenges and opportunities.

Work is primarily performed in a typical home or office setting, using standard office equipment and technology. The position may occasionally require visits to industrial outdoor environments, including composting and processing facilities, where employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, mud, loud noise, strong odors, heavy machinery, and potentially extreme weather conditions.
