Complete Description:

Mandatory 4-week probationary period: Candidate must be on site every day for the first 4 weeks

Starting in week 5, 6 or even 8: Transition to hybrid schedule (3 days on site per week), based on performance

Candidate must currently reside within 20 miles of SE Washington, D.C.

Primary work location: DC Office of Lottery and Gaming, SE Washington, D.C.

Parking: Approximately $60 per week, subject to change

Note: With new leadership, this role may revert to 100% on site

This is a contractor role within the DC Office of Lottery and Gaming Information Technology Department. The position supports daily operational and maintenance tasks within a Cisco-based network environment. Technologies include Cisco ISE, firewalls, routers, and switches across a hybrid Microsoft on premises and Microsoft Azure infrastructure. The environment is virtualized using VMware. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded Cisco network engineer with an active CCNP and working knowledge of Windows Active Directory, VMware, and general Windows server administration. The contractor is responsible for the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and management of networked systems supporting voice, data, and video services.

Responsibilities, Duties and Competencies

Perform daily operations, maintenance, configuration, optimization, and upgrades of agency network infrastructure including Windows servers, Cisco ISE, Cisco ASA firewalls, routers, and switches.

Monitor performance, capacity, and availability of LAN, WAN, telephony, and virtual systems.

Diagnose and resolve incidents promptly to ensure continuity of services.

Maintain network documentation, configuration standards, and change management processes.

Implement and maintain information security and assurance requirements in all network activities.

Support agency telephony systems, VoIP, voice switching, analog services, ACD, and IVR platforms.

Enforce agency policies related to security, compliance, auditing, disaster recovery, and encryption.

Use enterprise tools to analyze, monitor, troubleshoot, and manage network and system health including Cisco ISE, Cisco Umbrella, Cisco FMC, Cisco DNA, Microsoft Active Directory tools, Microsoft Intune, Tanium, Cayosoft, SSH, RDP, IDS and IPS appliances, firewalls, VMware vCenter, DHCP, DNS, and associated utilities

4+ years of experience required for all the above

Active, current CCNP certification is required

Desired Certifications and Technical Competencies

Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, VMware, & Windows server administration preferred
