The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistent corporate financial strategy through a range of avenues such as managing and allocating accounts, financial statements, and tax data. The candidate will also be the point of contact for banks, auditors, and tax authorities.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Operations:

Overseeing all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets and cost accounting, and accurate, timely financial statement production including weekly cash reports.

Compliance and Controls:

Developing and implementing internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensuring full compliance with federal, state, and local reporting requirements and tax laws. Given the company's work with the U.S. Department of Defense, compliance with government contract accounting principles would be beneficial.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Managing the budgeting process, monitoring actual spending versus budgetary allotments, reporting variances to executives, and preparing financial forecasts.

Audit and Treasury Management:

Coordinating annual financial audits and potentially managing organizational debt and banking relationships.

Cost Accounting:

Given the company's hardware and manufacturing focus (satellites, lasers, ground stations), implementing and managing cost accounting systems, inventory controls, and product pricing models, and partnering with engineering, operations, and program management teams to track project costs, margins, and funding utilization.

Supply Chain Management:

Leading supply chain management from the financial side, including creating purchase orders and ensuring that invoices are paid accurately, on‑time, and with proper controls in place to prevent fraudulent activity.

Qualifications

Experience:

8+ years experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting/finance role, preferably with experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, and/or a high‑growth fast‑paced technology company.

Education/Certifications:

A bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, with a CPA certification or MBA preferred.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and cost accounting principles, experience with ERP systems, and excellent analytical and communication skills. Candidate should have a demonstrated track record of taking initiative to improve financial reporting and cash tracking.
