Summary The incumbent provides administrative and technical support to promote efficient delivery of local Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) special events and entertainment to the Navy Community Recreation Branch. They develop, coordinate, and provide technical direction, guidance, and assessments of Navy MWR special events and entertainment programs in alignment with applicable instructions and policies.
Duties Applicants must have experience supporting MWR special events and entertainment. The position includes:
Coordinates, monitors, and performs site visits to evaluate compliance with DoD and Navy regulations.
Serves as subject matter expert on Navy MWR Entertainment policies, procedures, and program instructions.
Coordinates booking of entertainment for installations and deployed US Navy ships, including USO and AFE.
Coordinates with Commercial Sponsorship Coordinator to obtain sponsorship and with Public Affairs for promotion.
Ensures contractual agreements and technical requirements are met.
Sets up and organizes special event spaces, arranging equipment and decorations.
Administrative Management Duties:
Provides materials and commentary for MWR publications, ensuring consistency with federal, state, host country laws, DOD and Navy policies.
Reviews and drafts replies or endorsements on correspondence related to operational or policy matters.
Liaises with counterparts from other Armed Forces to review and coordinate MWR policy implementation.
Establishes and monitors memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with installations for event logistics, venues, marketing, etc.
Maintains liaison with DOD, government and civilian agencies to manage programming.
Collaborates on marketing methods and processes for MWR entertainment programs.
Provides technical guidance, training, and advisory services to the field and deployed ships.
Recommends policy changes or corrective action when deficiencies are identified.
Requirements
Pass all applicable records and background checks.
Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
Willing to relocate within 50‑mile radius of NSA Mid‑South; Millington, TN or Washington Navy Yard; Washington, DC.
Qualifications Resumes must demonstrate experience and knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) related to this position.
4+ years of specialized experience with Navy or other Military Branch MWR special events and entertainment programs.
Knowledge of organizational and technical requirements for large‑scale events.
Knowledge of operational policy and administrative procedure for oversight of special events.
Knowledge of financial management, budgeting, cost analysis, internal controls, procurement.
Skill in applying qualitative and quantitative indicators for assessing programs.
Skill in creating correspondence and editing publications.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to interpret complex instructions and apply them to specific situations.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Education: No positive education requirement.
Additional Information Salary is dependent on experience and/or education, inclusive of locality pay. A one‑year probationary period may be required. Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days is required. This announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies within 60 days of issuance of a selection certificate. For positions requiring travel more than twice per year, a Government‑issued Travel Card may be required.
