Base pay range $41,903.76 / yr – $41,903.76 / yr

Department Overview The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC) protects citizens and provides a safe, secure, humane environment for staff and offenders while facilitating opportunities for offenders to acquire skills and facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Responsibilities

Calculate terms of imprisonment and issue credits, release dates, parole eligibility, and good‑time adjustments.

Audit accuracy of terms of imprisonment.

Review inmate records for transfers.

Enter data into the Kentucky Offender Management System and maintain status of active and inactive probationers.

Serve as liaison for institutional staff.

Provide verbal and written information regarding prisoner status to officials and the public.

Furnish records information to administrative staff, the Parole Board and courts.

Prepare inmate furloughs, transfers, conditional releases, and parole lists.

Answer telephone inquiries from Probation and Parole Offices about inmate sentences and release dates.

Respond to open‑records requests.

Implement functions associated with receiving and discharging inmates.

Communicate with courts, counties, state agencies, the public, inmates, and staff regarding inmate records.

Interpret, adhere to, and enforce all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to inmate records.

Minimum Requirements Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience, Training, or Skills:

One year of experience in management, administration, legal, paralegal, or offender records.

Substitution Policies:

Administrative, legal, paralegal, law enforcement, or offender records work experience substitutes for required education on a year‑for‑year basis. Current or prior military experience substitutes for the required college on a year‑for‑year basis.

Working Conditions Work is typically performed in an office setting.
