seeds marketing+design, an advertising agency covering a variety of mediums with exciting new clients, is looking to add an experienced Freelance Media Planner to support our growing marketing agency in a part time capacity!

The ideal candidate has a strong background in media planning and buying, excellent communication skills, and is confident managing campaigns from strategy through execution and reporting. The candidate should have experience in buying traditional media channels [broadcast television, cable television, broadcast radio, streaming radio, print ads and billboards] as well as digital media channels [OTT/streaming, social media, display ads, SEM, and SEO]. This role requires strong attention to detail, independent work, consistent client communication, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with media vendors.

Media Planner will handle the following key responsibilities: Media Planning & Strategy Develop and present annual media plans, tailored to achieve identified KPIs. Planner should be well versed in the new offerings within the media landscape and should include creative and fresh opportunities within the proposed annual plans. Plans to be monitored and adjusted throughout the year based on performance. Media planner will select appropriate media channels, negotiate placements, and ensure plans are delivered on time and on budget.

Campaign Management & Optimization Continuously monitor media performance and adjust plans to maximize impact. Coordinate with media outlets and station representatives for ongoing campaign adjustments and optimizations.

Creative Trafficking Manage the trafficking of creative assets to media outlets and vendors, based on directions provided by the client. Ensure all creative is delivered on time, in the correct format, and in accordance with media specs and deadlines. Media planner must be available to address creative changes with a 24-hour turnaround. Planner to monitor logs to ensure creative is running as intended.

Reporting & Analysis Prepare and deliver monthly performance reports with insights and recommendations. Present reports in a clear, client-friendly format during monthly virtual check-ins. Conduct quarterly in-person meetings with clients to review broader performance and strategy.

Budget Management & Billing Manage and track monthly budgets for each client. Ensure timely processing of monthly billing and reconciliation. Monitor invoicing accuracy and resolve discrepancies with vendors as needed.

Vendor & Stakeholder Communication Develop, maintain, and strengthen relationships with media vendors and station reps. Serve as the main point of contact between clients and media outlets. Leverage partners to secure added-value media placements and tailored media offerings.

Requirements and skills include: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Business Management, or a related field Local to Metro-Detroit (preferred) 8+ years of media planning experience (agency or freelance) Strong understanding of traditional and digital media buying Proven experience managing multiple clients and budgets simultaneously Proficient in media planning tools, Excel/Google Sheets, and Google Analytics Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-motivated and deadline-oriented
