Role And Responsibilities The duties of the teacher may include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

Instruction

Providing science instruction to students in grades in High School

Willingly assisting the instructional process in its many forms

Supporting school-wide instructional initiatives

Implementing French Ministry of Education Science curriculum along with Louisiana Science Standards

Gathering student data through observation, dialogue, testing tools, etc., and designing strategies to meet student needs

Create daily lesson plans and learning activities for students based on national, local and school standards in science education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviors

Design and deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, demonstrations, labs, and projects using a variety of proven methods

Differentiate lessons when needed to give all students access to the curriculum regardless of disability, instructional level, English proficiency or level of interest in the subject

Evaluate student performance on tasks established by the standards using different methods such as observation, performance‑based tasks or other standard test practices

Improve skills and knowledge in teaching by regularly taking classes, attending workshops and discovering new methods of delivering exciting content to students.

Maintaining an accurate and current gradebook, tracking student data, and drafting report cards.

Conducting school‑wide benchmark and state assessments

Community‑Based Learning Initiatives

Assisting in the delivery of curriculum that utilizes community resources to enrich the learning experiences of students

Planning and chaperoning field trips and projects related to Lycee’s Thinking Outside the Classroom Program

Other Duties

Effectively communicating with school administrators, teachers, student service personnel, parents regarding student performance and plans for improvement

Participating in SBLC, IEP, and 504 meetings as needed

Supporting students and administration in Positive Behavior Intervention and Support philosophy

Assisting students in adopting a behavior conducive to success in the classroom setting

Participating in faculty meetings and professional learning communities meetings

Assisting in orientation and open houses if requested

Modeling non‑discriminatory practices in all activities

Performing other job related functions as may be assigned

Being punctual, reviewing and following all Staff Handbook policies and procedures \ Requirements Expectations, Educational Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher

Experience in instruction in an elementary, middle, or secondary school setting

Flexibility and a team‑spirit work ethic

Well developed interpersonal skills

Remaining current with Louisiana Student Standards and other instructional requirements

Ability to work in a diverse environment with a multicultural team

Ability to learn and adapt to new curriculum (French Ministry of Education science curriculum)

Preferred Qualifications

Louisiana Certification

Three or more years teaching experience

Fluency in French

Experience in differentiating instruction and supporting students with learning challenges.
