We’re seeking a talented

Proposal & Grant Writer

to help secure funding that drives meaningful impact across California communities. In this role, you’ll develop strategic, high‑quality proposals for municipal, state, and regional government agencies, translating complex ideas into persuasive narratives that win results. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams to align technical, financial, and programmatic input, ensuring every submission meets compliance standards while reflecting the organization’s mission and the priorities of public‑sector partners.

Base pay range $45.00/hr - $65.00/hr

What You’ll Do

Research, write, and manage full proposal lifecycles—from strategy and development through submission and post‑award reporting.

Collaborate cross‑functionally with technical, finance, and program teams to align content and ensure compliance with public‑sector requirements.

Translate technical and policy language into persuasive, accessible proposals that reflect agency priorities and deliver measurable impact.

Track and respond to funding opportunities (RFPs, RFQs, NOFAs) across state and local agencies.

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of proven experience writing and managing government proposals or grants, ideally within public‑sector programs (infrastructure, sustainability, workforce development, or community impact).

Strong understanding of government procurement and funding processes.

Demonstrated success securing funding from agencies such as the State of California, Alameda County, Caltrans, EPA, or HUD.

Exceptional writing, organization, and project management skills.

Experience with minority‑owned or mission‑driven organizations a plus.

Familiarity with California’s regional funding landscape (e.g., MTC, SCAG, BAAQMD) is highly valued.
