Summary of Position: The Director of Residential Services provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for New England Village’s residential programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role guides a multidisciplinary team in delivering services that reflect best practices, regulatory standards, and the organization’s core values. Key responsibilities include maintaining compliance, supporting staff development, managing budgets, and driving continuous quality improvement. The Director fosters a culture of dignity, autonomy, and inclusion, while aligning operations with organizational goals and ensuring all functions adhere to internal policies and external regulations.
Responsibilities and Duties: Coordination of Services
Provide supervision and leadership to Assistant Directors and Program Managers to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality supports.
Ensure proper staffing ratios and scheduling across residential programs; monitor staffing needs and provide support as needed.
Collaborate with clinical and nursing teams to ensure health and safety needs of individuals are met.
Oversee intake and transition processes for new admissions in accordance with NEV procedures.
Maintain communication with families, guardians, and funding agencies to support continuity of care and service satisfaction.
Ensure implementation of behavior support plans and monitor data collection in collaboration with clinical staff.
Address maintenance concerns and ensure timely follow-up on facility needs and work orders.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide emergency support and program oversight.
Quality Management
Conduct routine program reviews to ensure compliance with NEV, DDS, and other regulatory standards.
Monitor and support completion of ISP documentation, incident reports, and HCSIS entries within required timelines.
Oversee residential program budgets, monitor expenditures, and ensure fiscal accountability.
Participate in internal and external audits, licensing reviews, and follow-up on corrective actions.
Ensure confidentiality and HIPAA compliance in all program operations.
Leadership and Professionalism
Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and advocacy for individuals served.
Provide supervision, coaching, and performance management for direct reports.
Lead team meetings and supervision sessions to support staff development and operational consistency.
Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, onboarding, and personnel matters.
Participate in organizational committees and contribute to agency-wide initiatives.
Demonstrate professionalism, adaptability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Perform other similar duties as responsibilities necessitate or as requested by supervisor.
Knowledge and Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may substitute.
Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive supervisory experience in Human Services.
Experience with Positive Behavior Supports (PBS) and ABA strategies preferred.
Strong knowledge of DDS regulations, MAP, HCSIS, and human rights standards.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
Skills and Abilities Required
Strong leadership and team-building skills.
Excellent time management, organizational, and communication abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to emergent situations.
Ability to build constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
