What You’ll Do: The Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and analyzing mortgage loan requests for all HELOCs, Conventional mortgage products, and Portfolio mortgage products to ensure they meet all investor guidelines, regulatory requirements, and company policies. Will approve or deny applications according to the terms of Royal Credit Union's standards, procedures, regulatory underwriting guidelines, and secondary market requirements while meeting the commitment of delivering high-quality loans that satisfy our Member's financial needs while mitigating risk.

Our Commitment To You:

Compensation:

WI range: $30.75-35.35 per hour

MN range: $35.05-40.30 per hour

(candidates with significant related experience may be higher. Pay also depends on candidates location)

What’s Needed For This Position:

High School Diploma or Equivalent

Three (3) years of mortgage-related experience, including mortgage processing

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

Underwriting & Compliance:

Working knowledge of loan origination systems, secondary market underwriting standards, and state/federal mortgage lending regulations.

Analytical & Decision-Making:

Strong analytical skills to assess risk, review financial statements, credit reports, tax returns, and appraisals, and make sound lending decisions.

Communication & Collaboration:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to present information, respond to questions, and collaborate with loan processors, officers, and stakeholders.

Organization & Multitasking:

Highly organized, attentive to detail, able to prioritize and multitask in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.

Confidentiality & Professionalism:

Maintains a high level of confidentiality and composure in high-stress situations; able to lead or contribute to process improvement initiatives.

We’d Love To See:

Previous Mortgage underwriting experience

Work Schedule and Office Location:

Hours will generally be Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm with occasional evening and weekend hours, as needed.

This position is part of Royal's workplace flexibility program and has the ability to be remote after 4-6 months of training and proficiency in the position.

When not working remote, the office location is flexible at either the Operations Office in Eau Claire, WI, or at our Arden Hills, MN office based on office availability and candidate preference.

Training:

Prior to starting a normal work schedule, new Royal team members must attend Foundation Training at our Corporate Center in Eau Claire, WI from 9:00am - 4:30pm on Monday and Tuesday during their first week of employment. Out of town learners will be reimbursed costs related to travel and lodging.

Foundation Training covers fundamental information about Royal’s culture and core values which sets the stage for team members to be successful within our organization.
