Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a direct hire basis. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles and practices, with expertise in various accounting software and financial reporting. This role is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making processes.
Responsibilities
Prepare and maintain financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards.
Conduct account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Perform journal entries and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
Assist in the preparation of regulatory reports and tax filings.
Conduct financial analysis, including cash flow analysis and budgeting.
Support auditing processes by providing necessary documentation and reports.
Mentor junior accounting staff to enhance their skills and knowledge in accounting practices.
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, or Xero for efficient financial management.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to provide insights on financial performance and forecasts.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software tools.
Strong understanding of financial concepts including double entry bookkeeping, accrual accounting, and corporate finance.
Experience with SOX compliance, governmental accounting, non‑profit accounting, or public accounting is preferred.
Knowledge of securities law, wills & trusts & estate law is advantageous.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial reports effectively.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in work.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Familiarity with technical accounting principles and practices related to private equity is a plus.
