Position Summary The primary responsibility of the Director of Operations is to understand Fleet, Terminal Managers, and drivers’ needs according to the job duties. Manage and develop relationships with the drivers, and maintain fleet to increase overall driver productivity, and retention. With your experience and talents, you will be able to coach, mentor & lead our team of high‑performing professionals to be efficient, productive, and effective. This position works closely with drivers, customers, and other company departments to ensure company objectives are met. This is a salaried exempt position. All duties and tasks are understood to be a part of the described position but not limited to business travel and drivetime.
Additional Responsibilities In addition to improving transportation methods and systems, the Director of Operations will manage and oversee all regions as well as supervise mid‑level managers and logistics specialists which include personnel evaluations, resolving staff issues and leading conferences, seminars, and meetings. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
Manage multiple terminal P&L's to ensure financial health of each contract.
Recruit and retain qualified drivers and employees to meet company objectives.
Oversee all corporate safety and security requirements, including applicable state and federal laws; implement changes as needed to maintain compliance.
Lead a team and coach them to a high level of performance, including working with contracted drivers as well as terminal staff.
Strong leadership skills, comprehensive hands‑on knowledge, and the ability to approach business from a creative point of view.
Develop a strong working relationship with all postal personal throughout all contracts to ensure we are providing the highest level.
Ensure that all DRO's are fully implemented and running smoothly according to USPS requirements.
Work with team to provide detailed analytics for all contracts to ensure optimal profitability and optimization.
Create budgets, monitor costs, and make formal presentations.
Checks the effectiveness of daily routing activities to ensure all established key performance indicators (KPI) goals are met.
Develop strategies to improve retention & morale.
Coordinates efforts with the Safety department to aid in training, conducting associate observations, up‑dating preferred work methods.
Executes management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews and/or terminations.
Manages labor hours, travel, fuel, and consumable supplies within budget, maximizing time and cost efficiencies.
Ensure full compliance for all payroll and safety platforms including TMW Software participation.
Oversees the proper selection, purchase, and utilization of company assets.
Drive time to cover routes or Transport equipment.
Frequent Traveling to location, or conferences business related.
Professional Skills
Ability to read, comprehends, write, and speak English.
Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Capable of writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Demonstrate knowledge of spreadsheet software and Word, and ability to learn company technology software and programs.
Working knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
Successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
Apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.
Able to work with peers and associates from other departments, operating companies, and Corporate proactively and constructively.
Work in a disciplined manner and capable of following established procedures, practices and complying with local, state and federal regulations.
Manage the pressures and stress associated with a deadline‑oriented atmosphere and customer service issues.
Demonstrates skill in making independent decisions in support of company policies and procedures on time.

Travel is required 60% of the time to all other terminals/domiciles.
