Pay range:

$116,480.00/year – $158,080.00/year

Overview CGS seeks a Desktop/Workstation Design Engineer to contribute to architecture discussions, system reviews, design planning, and technology roadmap for current and future desktop integration efforts. The ideal candidate will be passionate about government innovation, collaborate across teams, and anticipate user needs.

Responsibilities

Act as Subject Matter Expert on Desktop OS Image development and implementation.

Deliver robust solutions for large‑scale deployment of software using OS deployment technologies such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).

Develop tests and implement software distribution packages to update applications on desktops, laptops, tablets, and servers.

Provide information and recommendations to meet user‑based software requirements.

Maintain familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell and VBScript.

Implement server OS deployment methodologies, including automated server build processes.

Support OS patching infrastructure such as BigFix or Windows Update/MECM to apply mandatory security updates.

Analyze, evaluate, and recommend desktop, laptop, tablet, and server hardware.

Perform security‑related tasks, including documentation, vulnerability scan review, assessment support, patch management, and auditing as required.

Qualifications

Experience integrating and upgrading desktops/laptops from Windows 7 to Windows 10, including upgrading Microsoft and third‑party applications.

Experience with litigating software such as Ipro and Concordance.

Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.

Windows OS engineering experience.

Understanding of application of security controls on the image.

Microsoft Office engineering experience.

Experience integrating anti‑virus applications into an image.

VPN/Remote access experience (Cisco Secure Access with RSA a plus).

Windows scripting experience.

Strong writing skills.

Preferred

VB and/or VBA coding experience.

VDI/Citrix experience.

SMS/SCCM experience.

Understanding of PKI.

VMWare experience.

Litigating software experience (Ipro and Concordance).
