Principal Solution Consultant – Digital Grid Management (DGM) Join

as a Principal Solution Consultant to leverage your business and technological acumen in overseeing technical aspects of proposals, Statements of Work, and leading discussions with existing customers to expand usage of our solutions through a proactive, consultative approach.

The Role Your Impact:

Work with technical and sales teams and customers to scope and design real‑time critical infrastructure control solutions, and manage risks related to RFI/RFP/RFQ.

Provide technical sales support for state‑of‑the‑art power systems applications, including presentations and product demonstrations.

Lead the technical response to customer RFPs, including network design, scope, and product selection.

Work closely with development, product management, and sales teams to define product demo requirements.

Identify customer business and operational issues to establish a credible value proposition.

Serve as trusted SME/advisor to customers and Sales Account Managers.

Represent AspenTech DGM in marketing events, on‑site meetings, online meetings, demonstrating curiosity, diligence, and impeccable manners.

Proactively support pipeline development (marketing, account planning, awareness sessions) and sales execution (technical wins, Sequence of Events).

Assist and oversee other Solution Consultants, building consensus and alignment while determining best processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science or related field.

8+ years of business and technical sales support in utility grid automation software (SCADA, EMS, GMS, DMS, OMS, DERMS) or related fields such as Utility Operations, IT Design, or Software Deployment.

Ability to work under pressure with tight schedules while remaining flexible and effective.

Quick learner who works independently to research, identify, and solve technical problems while managing time and strategic priorities.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, especially in presenting and selling technical solutions.

Ability and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%).

Additional Considerations

Experience in technical sales presentations/demos/POCs.

Knowledge of network architectures, databases, operating systems, security, and systems integration.

Knowledge of IT systems and data center designs.

Knowledge of electric utility systems, grid control technologies, and protocols (DNP3, Modbus, IEC 60870‑5‑101, IEC 60870‑5‑104, ICCP, CIM).

Knowledge of network modelling and simulation tools such as PSSE, Power Factory, ETAP.

Knowledge of GIS software.

Knowledge of Electric Distribution Power Systems applications (Load Flow Studies, Coordination Studies, Arc Flash Studies, FLISR, VVC/VVO) and Outage Management Systems.

Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this role is $120,900.00 – $151,100.00. This range represents the base compensation for the role; additional variable incentive pay and bonus may be awarded. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits (eligible employees).
