Accounting Manager
One of New England’s leading privately held real estate firms, headquartered in Boston, is seeking an experienced
Accounting Manager
to oversee financial operations across a diverse and growing property portfolio. This hands‑on leadership role is responsible for managing accounting processes, financial reporting, compliance, and partnering closely with internal teams to drive accuracy, efficiency, and operational excellence.
Salary Base pay range:
$135,000.00/yr – $150,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Oversee the accurate and timely recording of all financial activity in accordance with GAAP.
Partner with Division Directors and Property Management to ensure proper accounting for receivables and cash activity.
Work with IT to maintain the integrity, security, and functionality of financial data within the property management system.
Manage the month‑end close process, including reconciliations of cash, receivables, payables, and debt.
Enforce and refine accounting controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency.
Support SOX Section 404 compliance and respond to internal audit requests.
Supervise a team of four Accounts Payable professionals, ensuring timely and accurate invoice processing.
Review monthly financial statements and quarterly cash flow forecasts for presentation to senior leadership.
Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors on annual filings and financial statement reviews.
Analyze annual real estate tax assessments, prepare comparisons, and coordinate abatements with ownership, the CFO, and tax counsel.
Oversee vendor insurance compliance and year‑end 1099 preparation.
Provide accounting support to the in‑house construction division, including payroll processing, cost coding, and billing setup for progress and time‑and‑material jobs.
Collaborate with project managers and leadership to ensure proper tracking of labor and project expenses.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
10+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property management.
Public accounting background a plus.
Experience with RealPage, Yardi, or Timberline preferred.
Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
High integrity and commitment to accuracy and collaboration.
Compensation
$135,000–$150,000
