Talent Acquisition Manager | Seeking Top Engineers, Scientists, Planners & Designers | Building the Future of AEC Overview VHB is seeking an accomplished and visionary Regional Institutional Market Leader to drive the growth of our expanding Institutional Practice across New York and New Jersey. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate leader with deep expertise in healthcare and higher education campus development, including civil, infrastructure, and transportation engineering and planning.

In this influential role, you’ll leverage your existing relationships with key decision‑makers across both the public and private sectors to position VHB as a trusted partner in shaping the next generation of institutional facilities. You’ll lead strategic growth initiatives, develop marketing and business strategies, strengthen client partnerships, and oversee high‑impact projects that enhance communities and transform campuses.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow a dynamic, market‑focused team of design and planning professionals.

Set and execute the strategic direction for institutional growth across NY/NJ.

Build and manage strong client relationships with higher education, healthcare, and public institutions.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities; lead strategic go/no‑go and partnering decisions.

Serve as Principal‑in‑Charge or Senior Project Manager on select institutional projects.

Partner with marketing to strengthen regional visibility and promote VHB’s institutional expertise.

Track business goals, project milestones, and performance metrics.

Represent VHB at key industry events and client meetings throughout the NY/NJ region.

Requirements

15+ years of experience in campus planning, civil/infrastructure engineering, capital program management or related fields/roles

Proven success generating new business and leading winning pursuits.

Established relationships in the NY/NJ higher education and/or healthcare markets.

Strong leadership experience managing and developing multi‑disciplined teams.

Strategic thinker with strong communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation or Environmental Planning, or related field (Master’s preferred).

PE license (NY/NJ) or AICP preferred.

Must be able to travel regionally to client sites and VHB offices.

Role requires approximately 50% in‑office presence (when not traveling for client work).

The base salary range for this position is $200,000-$285,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job‑related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, and geographic location.
