Production Underwriter – Seren Specialty Insurance (Senior Living)
Superior Insurance Partners is a rapidly growing brokerage platform focused on commercial lines, personal lines, and employee benefit solutions. The role is located in Chicago, IL.
Job Responsibilities Production
Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail agents and brokers who specialize in Senior Living operations, driving submission flow and bind rates.
Provide responsive, knowledgeable support to agents throughout the quoting and binding process.
Solicit and underwrite new business opportunities, focusing on senior living communities, including skilled nursing, intermediate care, assisted living, and independent living communities.
Engage with partners through meetings, webinars, and education sessions to promote Seren’s senior living program and specialized coverage offerings.
Support renewal retention by providing expert guidance on coverage adjustments, pricing, and loss prevention recommendations.
Establish, track, and report on a production pipeline of new and renewal business.
Identify and pursue underserved segments and emerging risks within the senior living and healthcare liability space.
Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to enhance agent engagement and streamline submission processes.
Underwriting & Risk Assessment
Assess, price, and bind new and renewal accounts in accordance with Seren’s underwriting guidelines and authority levels.
Analyze operations, exposures, and loss history of senior living facilities to determine appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing.
Determine class codes, exposure bases, and applicable rating adjustments to ensure fair and sustainable premium levels.
Review applications, inspections, and financials to assess risk quality and ensure complete documentation of underwriting rationale.
Communicate quote terms and coverage recommendations clearly to agents and brokers.
Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate policy issuance and timely servicing.
Provide feedback to product and actuarial teams to refine underwriting appetite and enhance Seren’s offerings.
Collaborate with fellow underwriters and leadership to ensure consistent application of underwriting standards and best practices.
Required Criteria
Bachelor’s degree (Business, Marketing, Risk Management, or related field).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in liability underwriting within senior living, healthcare, or specialty casualty sectors.
Experience with carrier, program business, or surplus lines underwriting strongly preferred.
Strong agency and broker relationships within the Senior Living Insurance market.
