Product Owner – Technical Background Newark, NJ (Onsite – Full Time) $120K–$160K (Based on Experience)

Position Overview We’re seeking a

hands‑on Product Owner with a strong technical foundation

— ideally someone who began their career as a

software engineer or developer

and has since evolved into a

strategic product leader.

You’ll bridge business and technology, translating high-level business goals into clear, actionable product requirements. You’ll lead Agile ceremonies, manage product backlogs, and work closely with engineering teams to ensure

timely, high-quality delivery.

This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in

fast‑paced environments , understands both

technical complexity and business value , and enjoys guiding software products from

vision to deployment.

design review or sprint planning session.

You think in systems, break down problems logically, and have the

curiosity of a builder

with the

discipline of a product owner.

Key Responsibilities

Meet with business stakeholders to define and prioritize the

Product Roadmap

in alignment with strategic goals.

Translate business objectives into

epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria

that guide engineering teams.

Lead

Agile ceremonies

including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Backlog Refinement, and Retrospectives.

Collaborate with UX/UI teams to validate and refine product designs before development.

Maintain a clear and organized

product backlog ; manage dependencies and ensure sprint cadence is met.

Champion Agile best practices and ensure product quality through sprint reviews and retrospectives.

Partner with engineering to break down

technical stories , define “definition of done,” and manage release timelines.

Track project metrics ( velocity, burndown, throughput ) and communicate progress to key stakeholders.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree

in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field prefered.

5+ years of experience

in software product management or product ownership.

Prior hands‑on programming experience

(e.g., Java, .NET, Python, or similar) — strong technical acumen required.

Deep familiarity with

Agile/Scrum

frameworks and tools such as

JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket.

Understanding of

UX/UI principles , software design, and usability standards.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present technical concepts clearly.

Experience with

ERP systems

or

enterprise‑level applications

preferred.

Background in

manufacturing, supply chain, or distribution software

is a major plus.
