Rigetti And Company Inc
Quantum Engineer, Quantum Integrated Circuit Designer
Rigetti And Company Inc, Berkeley, California, United States, 94709
As a Quantum Engineer on the quantum integrated circuit design team, you will drive systematic improvements to Rigetti Computing’s quantum processors through modeling and design. You will actively help build the chips at the core of our technology stack. You will contribute to our quantum hardware simulation tools and use them to model the classical and quantum dynamics of superconducting circuits. You will lay out and design microwave multi‑qubit circuits for fabrication and build next‑generation quantum processors.
Key Responsibilities
Design, lay out, and simulate superconducting microwave integrated circuits for quantum processors. Build CAD models of circuits and simulate them using commercial software (HFSS). Use custom simulation tools (Python, Julia) to model the steady‑state and dynamic behavior of quantum systems. Collaborate with fabrication and experimental teams to choose different circuit architectures for fabrication and testing. Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Undergraduate‑level knowledge of circuit theory (design and analysis of DC and RF electrical circuits). Demonstrated experience in microwave engineering. Experience using commercial electromagnetic solvers (HFSS, COMSOL, CST). Formal math skills, especially linear algebra and analysis. Programming skills in Python for scientific applications, ideally in an industry or highly collaborative environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to excel in a collaborative environment. Nice to Have
Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, Physics, or a related field. Experience with 2D CAD tools for circuit layout and the GDS file format. Experience with gdspy or similar for automated circuit layout. Understanding of quantum mechanics, preferably including circuit quantum electrodynamics. Knowledge of computational modeling, especially of quantum circuits, integrated or lumped‑element electrical circuits. Demonstrated contributions to open‑source software. Understanding of semiconductor fabrication processes. Experience in a technical role within an industry or startup environment. Salary Range
$145,000
$175,000 per year. Rigetti complies with all local and state regulations in regards to displaying salary ranges. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as relevant work experience, skills, and geo‑location. Rigetti offers a full slate of benefits from competitive salaries, equity, medical, dental and vision for employees and also offers a 401(k) plan, a paid parental leave program, rejuvenation days, and a vacation policy that aligns with local regulations and industry standards.
