Aggregate Environmental Heavy Equipment Operator – CRH

Join the team as an Aggregate Environmental Heavy Equipment Operator with CRH and APAC Mississippi, Inc. This role focuses on reclamation, restoration, and stabilization activities at aggregate sites.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment to perform finish grade, slope work, and other excavating operations as part of reclamation and restoration/stabilization activities.
• Ensure erosion and sediment controls are installed and function as part of stabilization activities to meet environmental compliance.
• Interact and maintain a positive working relationship with subcontractors and team members.
• Safely and efficiently operate various heavy equipment used in pit, mining, and reclamation operations.
• Report any equipment problems to the Aggregate Environmental Foreman and assist in daily pre‑ and post‑shift inspections.
• Perform minor servicing and of equipment; refer major problems to the Foreman.
• Assist in training less‑experienced employees on proper operations, servicing, and repair.
• Follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations to maintain a safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including general labor tasks.

Ideal Candidate

• Experience operating earthwork equipment and ability to train others.
• Physically able to walk and stand on uneven surfaces for multiple hours; able to drive a company pickup vehicle to aggregate sites.
• Pass pre‑employment drug screen, criminal background check, physical exam, and I‑9 documentation.
• Professional and courteous attitude toward coworkers, supervisors, and the public.
• Reliable attendance; willing to work weekends, overtime, and travel/overnight stays.
• Adaptability to work outdoors in extreme temperatures and in team settings.
• Willingness to wear PPE and adhere to safety procedures.
• Minimum age 18 years; at least 2–3 years of finish/fine grade heavy equipment experience.
• Preferred: Knowledge of MSHA training, MDEQ surface mining and stormwater regulations, and surveying/grade shooting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Education and Experience

• 2–3 years of finish or fine grade heavy equipment operation or related training.
• Understanding of MDEQ surface mining and stormwater permit regulations (plus).
• Previous MSHA training/knowledge preferred.
• Experience with surveying and shooting grades preferred.
