Join Peraton in advancing the safety, efficiency, and modernization of the National Airspace System (NAS) through the FAA’s Brand New Air Traffic Control System (BNATCS) contract. As a trusted partner to the Federal Aviation Administration, Peraton helps deliver the systems and services that keep our nation’s skies safe and connected.

We’re looking for innovative professionals who thrive in mission-critical environments and are passionate about shaping the future of air traffic management. This is your chance to make an impact on one of the world’s most vital transportation infrastructures, working alongside leaders in aviation, engineering, data science, and systems integration.

At Peraton, you won’t just support the mission — you’ll define it.

Join a team dedicated to protecting the safety and integrity of U.S. air travel. Peraton is seeking adedicated and detail-oriented Hardware Support Engineer to provide technical expertise in the installation, configuration, maintenance, testing, and sustainment of mission-critical hardware systems supporting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The ideal candidate will work alongside system engineers, field technicians, stakeholders, and contractors to ensure the hardware infrastructure meets performance, availability, reliability, and safety requirements of air traffic control operations.

In this position, you will:

  • Install, configure, integrate, and test hardware components (servers, network switches/routers, sensor equipment, radar interfaces, associated cabling, racks) within FAA sites and NAS infrastructure.
  • Support hardware deployment activities: site surveys, installation planning, cut-over readiness, site acceptance testing (SAT), operational readiness reviews (ORR).
  • Coordinate with system integration & software teams to ensure hardware interfaces correctly with automation, surveillance, voice, and communication systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis of hardware issues in a 24/7/365 mission-critical environment.
  • Maintain hardware configuration baselines, documentation (including interface control documents, installation/test reports, drawings), change control and status accounting.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA safety, reliability, cybersecurity, environmental, and site constraints.
  • Monitor hardware performance metrics (availability, latency, throughput, reliability), elevate issues, and implement mitigation actions.
  • Support logistics, lifecycle management, parts provisioning, spares, and equipment tracking for deployed hardware.
  • Assist in hardware upgrades/replacements, legacy system decommissioning, and technology refresh efforts.
  • Travel to multiple FAA facilities and field sites as required.

Why This Role Matters

The reliability of FAA systems—and, by extension, the safety and efficiency of U.S. air travel—depends on robust and well-maintained hardware infrastructure. As a Hardware Support Engineer, your work ensures that essential components of the National Airspace System (NAS) operate seamlessly. Your technical expertise supports uninterrupted operations, reduces downtime, and enables modernization initiatives that keep the FAA at the forefront of aviation technology and safety.
