Stationary Engineer
to join our operations team at
Camp Pendleton . You'll be at the heart of our missionoperating and maintaining the systems that keep essential facilities safe, reliable, and mission-ready. As a key member of our Central Utility Plant operations team, you'll be responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of centralized boiler, chiller, and utility systems supporting critical infrastructure. Your expertise will help ensure system reliability, energy efficiency, and regulatory compliance at one of the nation's premier military installations. Key Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and maintain high-pressure steam boilers, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, feedwater systems, deaerators, surge tanks, and chemical treatment systems.
Perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and inspections on boilers, chillers, and auxiliary systems to ensure safe and efficient performance.
Conduct water treatment tests, apply chemical additives, and monitor system chemistry for optimum performance.
Operate and maintain reverse osmosis (RO) and water distribution systems.
Monitor and control equipment via Direct Digital Control (DDC) and Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Record and analyze system readings, identify abnormalities, and take corrective action promptly.
Follow OSHA safety standards, including lockout/tagout and confined space entry procedures.
Collaborate with fellow engineers and maintenance staff to support facility operations and meet performance goals.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Minimum
five (5) years
of experience in the maintenance, operation, and repair of centralized boiler and chiller equipment and related auxiliary systems.
At least
three (3) years
of experience in a
large, complex Central Plant
environment capable of producing over
500 boiler horsepower
of high-pressure steam heating and
400 tons
of centrifugal chiller cooling capacity.
Experience supporting
specialized facilities such as hospitals
or similar regulated environments.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in the operation, maintenance, and repair of boiler and chiller systems, steam and chilled water distribution, and chemical treatment systems.
Skilled in monitoring and maintaining DDC/BAS systems and controls.
Familiarity with reverse osmosis systems and industrial water treatment processes.
Licenses & Certifications: Current
Stationary Engineer's License
from a recognized entity (city, state, or national organization such as
NIULPE First Class Engineer
or equivalent).
EPA Universal Refrigeration License
(required).
Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in healthcare or government facility operations.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, EPA, NEC, and TJC compliance requirements.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
Regular standing, walking, climbing, bending, and manual dexterity required.
Must be able to work in mechanical rooms, confined spaces, and elevated areas.
