Position Overview

Our Partner, Hospital , located in Ahoskie, North Carolina , is seeking an experienced Board-Certified Physician, Physician Assistant, or Nurse Practitioner to provide locum coverage in their Emergency Department during the Christmas holiday period .

This opportunity features enhanced holiday pay for all December 25th shifts , in a low-volume, community-based ED supported by ECU Health's regional air and ground transport network.

Assignment Highlights
  • Dates & Shifts:

    • December 24, 2025: 12:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. (Standard rate)

    • December 25, 2025: 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. (Holiday pay applied)

    • December 25, 2025: 12:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. (Holiday pay applied)

  • Orientation: Required (day before first shift)

  • Holiday Pay: Premium for all December 25th hours

  • Setting: 15-bed Emergency Department, 114-bed community hospital

  • Average Volume: 65 patients/day

  • EHR: Epic

  • Onsite Specialties: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Oncology, Cardiology, Neurology, Pain Management, and Behavioral Health

  • Support: ECU Health Air and Ground transport for immediate transfers

  • Environment: Collaborative, low-volume ED with full specialty backup

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide full-scope emergency medical care for patients of all ages.

  • Evaluate, stabilize, and manage acute medical, surgical, and trauma cases.

  • Collaborate with hospitalists and specialists for admissions or transfers.

  • Perform essential emergency procedures within scope of practice.

  • Document all care accurately in Epic EMR .

Skills & Experience
  • Education: MD, DO, PA-C, or NP required

  • Board Certification: Required (Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or comparable specialty)

  • Licensure: Active NC license or IMLC eligibility

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in emergency or acute care preferred

  • Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, and PALS required

  • DEA: Active and current
