A preeminent plaintiffs’ law firm specializing in plaintiffs’ securities class actions and corporate governance seeks a Paralegal/Legal Assistant with a minimum of 5 years’ litigation experience. Responsibilities
Provide high quality paralegal, secretarial, and administrative support to supervising attorneys. Prepare and complete various state and federal court filings. Perform calendar management; scheduling meetings, conference calls, travel, appointments, depositions, due dates, court appearances, etc.; anticipate, identify, and resolve potential issues. Edit and proofread correspondence and legal documents for content, grammar, spelling, and formatting. Proficient use of Microsoft Word for legal word processing; Best Authority for generation and formatting of table of authorities; Microsoft Excel for generation and formatting of spreadsheets; Outlook for communication and calendaring. Ability to edit legal pleadings, including developing table of contents/table of authorities, PDF to Word conversions with quality-control-checking and applying firm styles/formatting. Apply blue book citation to legal memorandum and Shepardize case law cited for memorandum. Legal research using Bloomberg Law, Westlaw, LexisNexis, PACER, and SEC EDGAR. Case initiations in various federal and state courts: filing and service. Ability to draft attorney appearances, including motions to appear pro hac vice in various federal and state courts. Ability to check and apply courts’ local rules and judges’ individual rules to daily preparation and filing of legal pleadings. Track and input attorney time using SurePoint. Generate expense reports and check requests. Assist with reception coverage where needed. Knowledge of NetDocs and SurePoint a plus. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a very fast paced environment. Positive attitude and willingness to learn, and strong note-taking skills.
