We are looking for someone to be responsible for the delivery of a broad range of programs related to gang diversion and case management of at-risk youth. This is a part-time position.
Reports To:
Director of Operations
Areas of Focus:
Case-managing youth at risk of gang involvement
Coordinating and implementing gang diversion groups as requested by Kenosha Unified School District personnel
Tracking individual youth outcomes
Managing department electronic databases and paper files to meet grant guidelines
Building mentor/mentee relationships with youth and families in the program
Developing and maintaining relationships with outside agencies to coordinate services for case managed youth
The Outreach Services Program Specialist’s responsibilities include:
Maintaining a caseload of youth to meet grant guidelines
Providing gang prevention and ATODS training for youth individually and in small groups, using evidence-based programming as requested by funding partners
Coordinating diversion activities (mentoring, workshops, Saturday Club time, and other incentive-based activities including sports opportunities)
Participating in family program monthly with case managed youth and families
Being an active partner in the community Gang Task Force
Providing back-up for Community Service and Restitution and Club programming.
Managing and supervising youth in required gang prevention and community service, keeping accurate records of participation
Developing and maintaining positive partnerships and relationships within the community that include police, school, and human services employees
Building mentor/mentee relationships with youth in the program
Referring youth to other support agencies as needed
Overseeing special programs and participating in the implementation of activities that promote the Boys & Girls Club and the Youth Employment Program
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
Two-year degree in related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
A minimum of two years’ work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising gang prevention activities based on the developmental needs of young people
Knowledge of gangs both nationally and locally
Bilingual in English and Spanish. Native speaker level of proficiency preferred.
Knowledge of, and experience using, gang prevention and diversion strategies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including MS Excel
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
Demonstrated organizational skills and project management abilities
Driver’s license and good driving record required. May be required to drive a Club van.
Hours
10 am to 2 pm, Monday through Thursday, and from 2 to 6 pm on Fridays
